Rhonda M. Flegel's career in public safety is a distinguished example of progression and commitment to service. Beginning in 2009, Rhonda started as a dispatcher with McLean County, honing her skills in the fast-paced hub of emergency services. Her dedication and proficiency led her to the role of Shift Supervisor, a position she excelled in from 2017 to 2021. Further demonstrating her leadership and operational expertise, Rhonda was appointed Assistant Director of Operations in 2021, and by the following year, she ascended to the role of Director.   Rhonda is not only a leader in her field but also an educator, serving as an APCO Public Safety Telecommunications (PST) Instructor and a CPR Instructor, shaping the future of public safety communication. Her commitment to continuous professional development is reflected in her achievement of the Certified Public-Safety Executive (CMCP) designation and APCO Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL).   Serving on the CESSA Regional Area Committee for Region 2 along with volunteering on APCO and NENA committees. Her passion extends beyond her operational duties, encompassing public education and the fostering of educational and leadership growth within the public safety sector.  Additionally, Rhonda is an Independent Consultant with Midwest Public Safety Consulting Group. In her life outside of work, Rhonda's dedication is mirrored in her personal life as a wife and mother to three children, balancing the demands of a high-stakes career with the joys and responsibilities of family life
