Monday 3:15 PM Leading the New Workforce
1) Identify the strengths and challenges of working with today’s workforce
2) Develop goals and objectives that inspire and motivate a diverse workforce
3) Adjust leadership style to better meet the needs of the new workforce
Today's workplace is unique. Never has there been a workplace so diverse in so many ways. Managers are increasingly grappling with generational differences in their staff. Problems can arise from differing mindsets and communication styles of workers born in different generations. The friction may be aggravated by new technology and work patterns that mix workers of different ages in ever-changing teams. The key is to be able to effectively address and take advantage of the differences in values and expectations of each generation. The leadership skills that worked in "old story" organizations will not work with today's employees. Managers must take care not to disadvantage older workers or those younger workers just entering the workplace. This program is about changing the way we lead to harness the energies of a diverse group of individuals to produce high-performance outcomes.
